![]() Logitech hadn’t released a new Harmony device since April 2019, and CEO Bracken Darrell first suggested he might jettison the entire line six years before that. That last Friday’s announcement came as an unceremonious post in the Logitech support forums speaks to just how little the company has valued Harmony in recent years. Sent to that big charging cradle in the sky. It would sell off whatever stock remained and keep adding to its sprawling database of supported devices. A client had sent him word that the company was giving up on the product line and that it would no longer manufacture what had become the gold standard in remote controls. “They finally did it.”įor the past decade, Werthauer has run a repair store for Logitech Harmony remotes out of his home on Long Island. “Oh, shit,” he thought as he read the email on his phone. I am disappointed, however, that Logitech cannot "fix" a problem with syncing that so many are experiencing.Quin Werthauer was enjoying a cup of coffee in his kitchen when he got the news. I trust Logitech and may buy another 650 locally to see if mine is a defective unit. I believe my settings are right on the 650, but I am not going to spend any more time trying to get this remote to work due syncing problems. It not only changes the outputs from the Yamaha, I have to dig out the old remotes in order to be able to see a picture or get sound on my TV/cable setup. My other three activites, "Apple TV", "Watch a Movie" or "Watch TV2" utilze the Yamaha and all work fine until I try to RETURN to the basic "Watch TV". I get that my cable box is connected to the TV via HDMI and routes thru the Yamaha (which is not powered up during the "Wacht TV activity). Therefore, I lose both picture and sound when I navigate from any activity back to "Watch TV". ![]() However, each and every time I return to the basic "Watch TV" activity (just the cable box and TV), the sequence resets my Yamaha RX V677 to a different output (from HDMI1 to AV1.and AV1 is not used in my 650 setup and nothing is plugged into AV1 on the Yamaha). When I can get the remote "synced", it work fine first time I go thru my four activities. I have only four (what I believe to be simple) activities. When experimenting with settings, it makes for a LONG and tedious process. On occasion, I do (magically) get the remote past 99% and "synced". Tried everything tech suport says (reset, different ports including back ones, unplug, remove batteries, close the software, etc.). I too have spent hours trapped in "99% synced" loop. Harmony 650, Windows 10, Samsung LED TV, Pace cable box and Yamaha RS v677 receuver. When the drivers are uninstalled and I connect the 650 to my computer, then the Harmony program can detect the 650 until it is synced 99% (or perhaps until windows have managed to re-install the drivers in the background?). It seems that my 650 is working though, but I cannot be sure since I am trying to add a new unit, a Cambridge Stream Magic, and this new unit is not working the way I want.Įdit: I forgot to mention that if I make a try and windows says the 650 cannot start up, then it wont even be possible for the Harmony program to detect the 650 until I uninstall the drivers for the 650 (or turn off the computer and wait 10 hours like I did today, just turning off the computer and waiting a couple of minutes did not help ). I have tried all suggestions is this forum thread without any luck. ![]() About 30 seconds later the hamony-program says that it is having trouble to communicate with my 650. ![]() If I look at the windows device manager simultaneously I can see that my 650 dissapears when it is rebooted and then it appears with a "!"-mark when the remote starts up, stating that the unit is unable to start up. What I can see my Harmony 650 is detected as working in the windows device manager the first time I have connetcted it, until the sync process reaches 99% and my 650 is rebooted. I have the exact same problem, my Harmony 650 stops att 99% regardless if I am using the desktop version or the web browser version.
